Holding CS09A

Holding CS09A: 2008-09-05

The step on the vise jaws was just about the same as the thickness of CS09A, so it was possible to clamp it as shown here. This made filing easier than if it had been clamped vertically between the vise jaws. As with many part-making operations, holding the workpiece securely and without damaging it is half the battle.

Work in progress on filing CS09A to profile. It had to be unclamped frequently to check against CS09.

CS09 and CS09A

CS09 and CS09A: 2008-09-06

Nikon Coolpix 8400

The CS09A plates bonded to the CS09 brackets, with reasonably thin lines of Redux showing along the joints. It's obvious from this view why the extra plates are needed; the bend of CS09 starts almost at the edge of the fixing hole, and there wouldn't be enough flat space for a nut or washer to bear against.
