card mock-up for aft baffle

card mock-up for aft baffle: 2016-09-17 Panasonic DMC-FT1

The baffle for the aft part of the engine compartment mocked-up in cardboard. I cut it out in several parts and used (black) duct tape to join them together. Here you can see that the port side has been tapered slightly to clear the port air filter.

The baffle for the aft part of the engine compartment mocked-up in cardboard. Viewed from starboard side, with starboard aft baffle in place. Note the cut-out for the starboard air filter, more than on the port side. The engine is mounted at an angle, with the prop driver central and the aft end of the engine canted to port, to give starboard sidethrust. So, the starboard carb is nearer to the centreline than the port carb.

The baffle for the aft part of the engine compartment mocked-up in cardboard. Viewed from starboard side. In order to clear the various items mounted on the firewall, and the upper part of the engine mount, the main part of the baffle is at an angle. I might have arranged the items differently on the firewall if I had realised at that stage that room was also needed there for the baffle.

The baffle for the aft part of the engine compartment mocked-up in cardboard. Viewed from port side. The flange (covered in black duct tape) for fixing the baffle to the firewall can be seen. There is just enough space for it underneath the brass common earth block, which is at the starboard side near the overflow bottle. The mess of wires here will get tidied into a neat loom later.
