Having determined that the fuselage slot for the trim link rod could be smaller, and prepared a template for the final required size and shape, I filled the existing slots with some spare brown foam. I carefully sanded off the gel-coat surrounding the slot to provide a bonding surface for a BID patch. I scuff-sanded a similar area of the pre-preg on the inside. This is how the starboard side looked once the brown foam had been tacked in position with rapid epoxy, ready for the BID layup.
