Screwcutting a new parallel thread (AN7, 7/16" x 20 UNF) on an AN840-6D fitting. The boss of the fitting has been turned down to 7/16" diameter (the overall diameter of the new thread). The triangular tool conveniently gives the thread angle of 60 degrees. The lathe changewheels have been set up to give a nominal feed of 20TPI, although as the lathe is metric the nearest available is 19.84375 TPI. On this short length of thread, the discrepancy is not significant. A die will be used for final clean-up of the thread.
