A 6mm hole drilled at an upwards angle on the aft side of the port control column socket to carry the wires to the switches on top of the column.

A bunch of wire offcuts inserted in a piece of split fibreglass sleeving to check how the wires will fit into the control column socket. The upper (right-hand) end of the sleeving is retained from opening by a short length of heat-shrink.

The control-column socket with the test bunch of wires inserted. The split fibreglass sleeving is keen to unwrap outside the confines of the hole in the socket; the actual assembly will probably need another piece of heat-shrink to keep it tidy.
