Rudder port side with Dry Guide Coat: 2007-08-27.
Nikon Coolpix 8400.
The port side of the rudder with 3M Dry Guide Coat applied, ready for rubbing down with 240 grade wet-and-dry. The small dark circles are where I used the Sandvik abrader to remove high spots - the DGC adheres better to surfaces with rougher textures.
Slurry on port side of rudder: 2007-08-27.
Nikon Coolpix 8400.
The port side of the rudder after some rubbing down with 240 grade wet-and-dry, showing the grey slurry that accumulates.
Port side of rudder rinsed off: 2007-08-27.
Nikon Coolpix 8400.
The port side of the rudder after rinsing off the slurry. Note how the low (grey) areas are now much easier to see.
Rudder port side polished: 2007-08-27.
Nikon Coolpix 8400.
The port side of the rudder after rubbing down with progressively finer abrasive to 2000 grade, then polishing with Farecla G3.
