The orange thing snaking across the picture is the firesleeve installed on the fuel hose from the firewall elbow to the fuel pump inlet.

Firesleeve (the orange stuff) installed on the fuel hose from the firewall elbow to the fuel pump inlet. This is the fuel pump end, and shows the stainless-steel cable tie used to secure the firesleeve, with its sharp cut-off end turned under for safety.
