trimming cooling duct sides

trimming cooling duct sides: 2016-12-03 Panasonic DMC-FT1

Looking down into the cooling duct from the cowl inlet. The sides of the duct have been trimmed once to improve the fit. The red lines were drawn with a felt-tip pen attached to a spacer block, to give a cutting guide. I was wary of taking off too much so made the first cuts somewhat below the lines. The fit is better after this trimming but more will be needed as the top of the duct is still quite close to the silencer. Although I have tired to position the duct as level as possible with respect to the engine and the landing gear (visible at the centre), it is clear from this picture that more will need to come off the port side of the duct than the starboard side.

Starboard side of cooling duct after first trim, looking into cowl from aft end. Looks as though only a small trim, up to about the marked line, will be needed here to allow room for the rubber sealing strip.

Port side of cooling duct after first trim, looking into cowl from aft end. This side of the duct is in firm contact with the cowl near the bottom of the trough and so will need a good bit more trimming, probably beyond the marked line, to allow room for the rubber sealing strip.
