removing MGL E-3: 2021-04-08 Panasonic DMC-FT1

I found a bug in the MGL E-3 instrument when I tried to configure it for the Rotax engine. It had to go back to the UK distributor (Parts for Aircraft) for a firmware update. I had fitted the 3 MGL instruments to the sub-panel before I fitted the instrument module to the firewall, which was quite easy with good access from both sides. Now that the wiring and plumbing is installed in the instrument module, it's not really practical to take it off the firewall again, so removing the MGL E-3 is a bit trickier than fitting it. However, with the main instrument panel removed and swung sideways, I was able to get at the fixings adequately. I needed a mirror to help position a deep socket spanner on the nuts.

Here is the hole left after the MGL E-3 was removed for its firmware update, with its D-sub connector visible behind. On the temporary shelf are some of the tools used in the process.
