Marking the position for a knob to be fitted on the starboard door guard plate, to provide a convenient way to push the door forwards, thus ensuring that the aft end of the door has dropped into the frame rebate. The knob has to be clear of the door seal on the forward edge, and the fixing screw has to be high enough to clear the door frame.
