layups around baggage bay: 2015-12-04 Panasonic DMC-FT1
This is the first stage of the layups to join the baggage bay bulkhead to the fuselage. The BID strips on both sides of the shelf, and on the centre section of the top edge have been laid up and peel-ply has been applied. Visible in the access holes in the baggage shelf are the ends of the G-clamps holding the 2 pieces of wood visible in the D-hole. These are to support the bulkhead in the correct position while the layup is being made and cured. Without that support, even stippling down the layup with a brush would have disturbed the position of the bulkhead. The bright object at top centre is the plastic box which holds the headset and power outlet sockets.

Here is the layup on the forward face of the top edge of the baggage bay bulkhead. Note that the peel-ply has been applied in a single piece across the fuselage roof where there is a simple curve. Much smaller pieces have been used on the forward face of the bulkhead, carried over only a short distance onto the roof because there is a complex curve at the joint. Note the wooden support to keep the edge of the bulkhead in position while the layup is applied and stippled in place.
